Snapchat
Recently the popular app Snapchat has been streaming live feeds form media outlets such as CNN, ESPN, The Food Network, Buzz Feed and many more. This gives users a quick snip it of what the networks have to offer or important news updates for people to follow wherever they go. instead of searching through your phone and reading the CNN update you can get a 60 second run down on important events happening around the world, or see how your favorite team is doing. In this day in age people are more interested in getting as much information as they can in as little time as possible. Companies have been adjusting to the consumer its how business stay love now these social media outlets can also benefit form this. The more options that the app has the more time that a consumer spends on the app. Snapchat has over 100 million users and is valued at 10 Billion Dollars via the Wall Street Journal.
Barstool
Web sites such as Barstool Sports started out as a blog that brought a different spin on current events. It has evolved into one of the most popular sites on the internet. It also has a free app that has all the same content as the web site. Its a very lose journalism based blog that brings news that teens and young adults are interested in. Such as sports and other events going on in pop culture. They also have advertisements for web sites such as Draft Kings which is a one day Fantasy sports web site. They also sell t shirts that are very popular along with hats and other apparel. I find this site entertaining along with being interesting because it started being a social media tool and has pivoted into more of a business. With this web site gaining more of a following it has been able to expand. Also with advertising other companies that have forms of media that are in the same realm of viewers such as draft kings. It is an interesting case of a social media tool evolving into a business. Barstool is at over 51,000,000 dollars via worth of web.com and has great potential to grow considering that the web site is based off of cities such as Boston, New York, and Chicago. So in theory every city can have a web site based off of their local area.
